HCH. KROM, MUNCHEN double circle etched TM. Note that this trademark is from Munich and not Solingen! This maker is rated as a “10” on the rarity scale in both Ralph Siegert’s SA book and the “McSarr” scale: the rarest category. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show uncleaned surface wear/yellow age patina with reverse lower crossguard marked “HO” for Hochland (Bavaria). Dark brown, fine-grained varnished wooden grip shows light surface wear with several faint depressions but, no chips or cracks and with silver grip eagle and SA insert properly inset. Mirror polished blade grades EX+/EX++ showing surface wear/runner marks with no nicks or cuts to the cutting edge. Deeply etched motto retains 70% of the artificial blackening to background. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains approximately 88% of the brown anodization with surface scratches to lacquer. Nickel-silver scabbard fittings show surface wear/yellow age patina matching the hilt fittings with the ball slightly dented. EX+.
