Large stylized SIEGFRIED WAFFEN and ERNST PACK & SOHNE M.B.H. WAFFENFABRIK, SOLINGEN with Wagnerian figure Siegfried, wielding hammer etched TM. Hilt fittings show minor wear with factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the well-detailed pommel with hand-enhancing to the outer oak leaf motif and crossguard with raised oak leaf motif on the upper surfaces of the quillons. Deep orange celluloid grip shows light wear/age and hairline cracks to obverse and reverse, but no major cracks or chips and is complete with wire wrap. Plated blade grades EX++/near MINT showing very minor surface wear/runner marks and is complete with blue leather buffer pad. Obverse features professionally engraved script: “FW ERWIN LUITNER” and reverse features “22 SEPT 1944”. Dent-free, steel scabbard shows wear to finish and much loss to plating. Portepee is correctly tied and grades EX+ showing wear to stem /slide. Standard set of hangers show almost no wear to the facings and velvet backings with no tears or fraying. Fittings show loss of silver finish and fittings are unmarked.
